IS PAINTBALL SAFE?
Like all action sports paintball can be potentially dangerous unless adequate protection is worn (most importantly: eye protection) and safety rules are understood and followed. A paintball pellet is a thin plastic shell filled with a water soluble paint. Guns shoot the pellets at a speed of 300 feet per second. Goggles must be worn at all times unless in designated areas. We also require that barrel bags (safety device that prevents projectiles from leaving your gun's barrel) be used at all time on both the rental equipment (barrel bag included) or your own gear (you MUST have a barrel bag on your gear, or purchase one at the pro-shop! No excuses!). Ignoring safety is a good way to get yourself ejected from the field.
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
Anyone 10 years old or older can play paintball. We ask that children under the age of 16 are accompanied by an adult (no you don't have to play - but you should). Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver.
DOES GETTING HIT BY A PAINTBALL HURT?
The paintball breaks open on impact, and generally cause very little pain. In my experience, the stinging pain goes away after a few seconds. Of course, the closer you are to the person shooting, the higher the velocity when it hits you. Thus, more pain may be experienced when shot at close range rather than farther away. In general, one can count on coming off the field with a few welts from paintballs, but your most annoying injuries are more likely to be scrapes and bruises from running around the terrain.
HOW MANY PLAYERS DO I NEED TO ENJOY PAINTBALL?
We have games and private groups catered to team style of play, if you don't have a team yet we have public walk-on field. This fields will take solo players or small groups and put them together to form one big field. This is a great way to get to know new players and eventually join onto teams.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We have various price packages catered for the different skill levels of the average paintball player. Most of our packages will include 1 day rental of goggles, gun, tank and some paintballs. Extra paintballs can be purchased from the field by the bag of 500 or by the case of 2,000. A beginner should plan on using 500-1,000 paintballs for the day with a rental gun. A day of play is usually 9:00am to 4:00 pm with an 8 game minimum. You can rent or purchase additional gear from the pro-shop (upgraded mask, gloves, hats, 2 Pod ammo belt, tactical vests, remote lines, etc.) We also have a few options for lunch while on the grounds, we can order pizza for your group at the price of $15 per pie, we also have a food vendor on site serving hamburgers and hot dogs during our spring and fall seasons, snack food and drinks are always available on site.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO PLAY PAINTBALL?
Bring old, sturdy, dark clothes and shoes or boots with some sort of ankle support. Paper towels, hand towel, or handy wipes to help you clean up in between games. You can also bring a gear bag or back pack to help tote your gear and food around to the different fields throughout the day. We also highly recommend you dress for the weather, wear layers that you can take off or put on if you get too hot or too cold. We play RAIN OR SHINE!
Do You Need to be Physically Fit to Play?
Not really, but it will help. As with all strenuous exercise participants should stretch and warm up before playing. Since typical games require quick sprints followed by a rest having good aerobic fitness is beneficial. Players should gauge their play to their level of fitness. All players in poor physical condition or with physically limiting conditions should consult a physician before playing. Proper footwear is very important. Some players find that lightweight canvas topped army boots or leather work boots protect feet and ankles in the woods. Other players prefer the support that sneakers give, as paintball does involve running. Personal preferences vary, but footwear should not be overlooked. Sports cleats are excellent for playing in.
How Do I Get The Paint Out of my Clothes?
Paint is water soluble and should wash out as normal.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR?
Listen to the referee and Paintball Sports staff members. Do not fire your paint gun anywhere except on the field during the game or in the designated chronograph area/shooting range. Make sure your mask is well seated and will not come off during the game. Make sure the velocity of your paint gun is below 300 feet per second. Always assume the gun is loaded! Always assume safety devices won't work. Anytime you are carrying a paintball gun in a 'safe zone' such as the parking lot or staging area where people are not wearing goggles, you MUST have a barrel plug in the barrel. Know the rules of the game and abide by them. Never remove face masks or goggles while on the field. NEVER look down the barrel! Notify the field staff of any medical conditions, allergies etc.
